Behavioural/decision/data/quant specialist

January 17, 2022

About the role

Oxford Risk has been growing rapidly over the last few years and we are looking to expand our behavioural research team in 2022. We are looking for exceptional individuals interested in applied behavioural science, and strong expertise in one or more of:

  • Behavioural finance, behavioural economics, and/or applied decision science
  • Data science, analysis, modelling, and statistical skills
  • Quantitative finance theory, risk, financial services, and wealth management
  • Product and consumer interface design, and behavioural UX/UI

These skills will be used to help us develop behavioural tools to guide people towards better financial decisions, with particular focus on financial wellbeing and sustainable investing.

Responsibilities

With the rest of the behavioural research team, you'll work closely with the head of product and the development team, to make sure we build the right things in the right way. You'll also work closely with the sales team and marketing team to explain our products to prospects and customers, and ensure we design solutions to meet our clients’ needs.

We do not expect applicants to have equally strong expertise in all these areas, but they will all be covered across the team, and we are looking for individuals who are interested in using a broad range of skills to deliver practical solutions. You will have a post-graduate degree, but this could be in behavioural science, data science, finance/economics, or any related subject.

You are more fox than hedgehog.

What we're looking for

Required skills and experience

  • Curiosity and interest in applied decision science, and in designing practical tools to assist decision making
  • Strong quantitative, modelling, analysis, and statistical skills; good knowledge of statistical and programming packages (Python, R, or similar)
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to a wide range of audiences
  • Highly organised, thorough, details-oriented, and able to document and track data with clarity
  • Proactive, collaborative, and able to operate independently

Good-to-have skills and experience

  • Familiarity with behavioural economics and/or decision science
  • Familiarity with finance theory, risk measurement, and portfolio theory
  • Experience with psychometrics, survey design, and data visualisation
  • Knowledge of financial advice, investment suitability, sustainable finance/investing, or financial wellbeing
  • Experience with consulting, and client and project management
  • Expertise in machine learning and data engineering
